Southwark Council and
representatives for the Aylesbury New Deal for
Communities have appointed Urban
Initiatives to develop the Aylesbury
masterplan, a vital component in the regeneration of
Aylesbury Estate and its immediate surroundings.
The objective of the masterplan is to
develop a vision of how the area could look in the next 10
to 15 years and give guidance on how to achieve that
vision. The planners will have to take into account the
long-term needs of residents in the estate: the economy,
employment, housing, shopping, transport, open spaces.
Although the masterplan will not include designs for
individual buildings, it will seek to define where new
development might be best located.
Aylesbury residents as well as businesses and services in the area have been involved in over 7 months of consultation leading to the design of the planning brief used to appoint the masterplanner team.
The Willowbrook Centre have also offered training on reading and preparing masterplans to the Physical Environment Group of the Aylesbury NDC.
The masterplan will be developed and adopted by the Council as an Area Action Plan and consultation will have to follow the Council policy as set in the Statement of Community Involvement.
The masterplanner team will carry out consultation at all the required stages before these are taken forward. Consultation will take place at the stage of sustainability scoping, definition of the issues and options, selection of the preferred options and final draft.
If you are or think might be affected by any of this issues, email Elena Besussi at the Willowbrook Centre or call us on 02077328856.
